How to Upload your Photos and
Email the Link
Now that you have finished making a web page with your photos, you can share them. First you must upload your photos. Uploading Photos If you are at home looking at the internet right now, then you probably have an internet connection to your home. The company that gave you that is called your internet service provider (ISP). Here where I live, there are two ways to get the internet, one way is from the phone company, and the other is from the cable company. Both company give you a webspace with your account. A webspace is where you upload your photos. They gave me 20 megs of space with my account which is enough room for 100-200 photos. Here is how I found my webspace from square one: I went to my internet browser and typed "www" (without the quotes) into the Address Bar. From that page, I clicked Customer Care Residential Internet > Webspace > Using Webspace > From and FTP Program. Lo and behold, I read the following information: - FTP hostname: ftp.myInternetProvider.com - Username: the part of your email address before the at sign (@) - All other FTP options can be left at their default setting. - the link to your webspace will be like http://members.shaw.ca/username Now, I expect that you don't have an FTP program. Me, I've had one for years, but it didn't come with my computer, I had to download it. You can also use Internet Explorer or another browser as an FTP program too; here is how. Using IE as an FTP Program Run Internet Explorer. Enter your FTP hostname in the address bar and hit Go or press Enter. Once you do that a login window will pop up. There I entered the first part of my email address and my email password. Now I was connected to my empty webspace. Here is a picture of what it looks like, while I right-click to create a folder. Then I named the folder "Photos1" and double-clicked it to go into it. ![]() Now you must double-click on this new folder, to go into it. Then drag and drop files from your computer into this FTP window and the files will be uploaded. That is all there is to it. To tell my friends how to view the photos, I would email the link. In my case it is: http://members.shaw.ca/username/Photos1
but yours will be different. That ends this lesson. I hope you found it useful. |
